You are UNIVERSAL INTELLIGENCE

YOU ARE UNIVERSAL INTELLIGENCE

In its purest form, nature possesses an incomprehensible amount of intelligence. Whether it be how our hearts beat; how clouds are formed; how animals and insects thrive; how plants produce oxygen; how bees produce honey; how the Earth moves around the Sun or how life itself is created …. nature is very beautifully and cleverly designed.

An innate level of intelligence is required to adapt and evolve. The most beautifully constructed man-made Italian coffee table, for instance, can not evolve and adapt to ‘live’ within the Saharan plains of Africa 🙂 To have life, is to be intelligent and tapping into and utilising this Intelligence is the goal for a peaceful and creative life.

Immediately, however, a conflict of interest arises when we consider this concept as part of a man-made system of survival. There is a constant conflict between nature and ourselves. Not only our external visible nature, but also our internal invisible nature, from our bodies to our minds. Balance is inherently intertwined within the smooth operation of everything.

Nature possesses this naturally – for example, the balance that maintains the spinning of the Earth; the balance that allows for our hearts to beat; the balance that keeps a flower alive. When this balance is maintained, nature thrives. When balance is necessary, nature will take over to achieve this goal.

Nature is intelligently adaptable. Through its own resilience, it will restore balance if it is not maintained and it will warn us when we need to pay attention. For example, if we damage our bodies, we will feel pain; if a flower requires more sunlight, it will attempt to grow towards light; if we require sustenance we will feel hungry. The beautiful Italian Coffee table may struggle to adapt in a similar way! The strive for balance is ingrained in every aspect of nature. It is ultimately what nature attempts to achieve and subsequently enables the intelligence, at the source of it all, to manifest itself. Being a masterpiece of nature ourselves, achieving balance is therefore the key to opening the door to our infinite potential.

‘Close both eyes and look with your other eye’

We are beings of thought. Thoughts cross our minds approximately 60,000 times a day. When they are observed we may notice a steady flow of mental chatter that occurs on a day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute basis. Do we know which thoughts cross our minds? Have we ever looked? What would we expect to see?

When we look inside ourselves, we may discover that who we think we really are as a person, is not really us, it is an illusion created by our minds. We create an image of ourselves based upon our thoughts. The thoughts are based upon our conditioning, our upbringing, our life experiences, our possessions, our beliefs and essentially very external aspects of ourselves.

This is not our true self, this is merely just an ACCUMULATION of memories, feelings and beliefs. An accumulation of anything  can not be the pure essence of us; it is a clouded form. Getting to the source of our nature we must look beyond the external layers we have built up, and in order to do that we must look inside. By observing the inner workings of our minds, we are able to find the canvas upon which we paint our lives via our thoughts. The ‘field’ of life. The Source of all that is. By digging deep and understanding ourselves, we also find the factors that hinder the internal harmony and, in doing so, align ourselves with the Universal Intelligence at the core of our being; at the core of every form of Nature.

The simple act of observation of our thoughts takes us there. It points us in the direction of our conditioning and it helps us to identify all the illusions of self. When we observe our thoughts we have the ability to look past our lifelong psychological ‘accumulations’ and find our authenticity.

By observing we may see bubbles of thought appear at the forefront of our minds, others may float across like ships at sea, some may make a brief appearance and then burst. Some thoughts may enter our mind space simultaneously like rain falling on still water. We may even stay focussed on one thought zooming in and out of it like a lens on a camera. Have we ever stopped to look at our own minds? After all, the mind is all we have to offer to the world….it is therefore in our interest to get acquainted with it; to get to know it.

There, in the midst of that abundant activity, exists a space; the canvas or the field. An area of stillness upon which our thoughts are painted. It is a place of calm from which we can see the activity of our minds, without being caught up in it. We can compare being in the ‘space’ to watching traffic on a busy road without ‘hitching a ride’ in any of the cars. It is a detached place of observation from where thoughts and conditioning do not interfere. In this space we find who we really are.

How to access this Intelligent Space:

1. Practice observing your thoughts (Meditate).

Spend time observing the traffic of thought that is generated by your mind. Allow them to flow into your mind space and recognise which thoughts are really useful to your present moment, and which are past memories and future worries which serve you no purpose.

2. Be Non – Judgemental in your discovery.

Observing your thoughts judgmentally will only alter the true nature of them hindering the process of self discovery. If you find yourself getting caught up in thought rather than just observing them, you can ground yourself by bringing your attention (gently and non-judgmentally) to your breathing.

3. Listen to your emotions.

Your emotions will give you helpful clues into the state of your mind. By identifying emotions such as anger, sadness, anxiety, we may train ourselves to look inwards again – Repeat steps 1 & 2. By spending time on a regular basis meditating we are able to quickly and efficiently recognise when our emotions and mindset are off balance.

4. Make meditation a daily routine.

Mindfully observing your thoughts on a regular basis helps us to stay grounded and present. After all….the present moment is all we really have. The future and past do not actually exist apart from in our thoughts 🙂
